Finally Enrolled!
Officially, I don’t start my PhD until 1 July. It is currently 27 June.
But perhaps the journey has already begun.
After several months of trying to jump one final administrative hurdle (will someone please just sign the damn form?), I finally received official advice yesterday that I am now fully enrolled.
Excellent!
I immediately launched myself down the online library rabbit hole, opening resource after resource in new tab after new tab, eager to begin reading.
(Yes, I am one of those people. In fact, I now have three separate web browsers open on my laptop because the number of tabs in the first browser became unmanageable. But there is method to my madness! Each browser relates to different aspects of my life: personal, professional, and academic. But I digress…)
Only to discover that my library access has not yet been renewed.
Wait, what?
Undeterred, I headed back into the Stream site to re-read the “Welcome to 175900 PhD Psychology” message. I clicked on the course link and was greeted with the following error:
“This course is currently unavailable to students.”
Bah humbug.
Perhaps I simply need to wait for my official start date.
In the meantime, I have sold my soul to StudyLink.
I have applied for a student loan, along with an EFTS extension and Limited Full-Time Study. Here’s hoping these applications are easier sailing than it was to secure that final signature on my doctoral enrolment form.
