We've spent the past week being regaled with stories about big scary MRI machines.  They don't harm you in any way, but they are loud - frighteningly so.  And if you're remotely claustrophobic, the noise, combined with the length of time you're having to remain in said machine, can cause you a panic attack of obscene proportions.

Satine returned from camp and unsurprising has regressed.  She's complaining of pain more than ever before and has lost both mobility and strength in her foot - far worse than it was previously.

We went to the physio the very next day after the (second) doctor's visit.  The physio massaged Satine's foot, applied ultrasound, gave her some exercises, and recommended that she use crutches for a couple of weeks to take the weight off her foot.

It's been a while since I last truly felt mother's guilt - this evening has certainly made up for it.

I keep catching myself wondering whether I'm living in a dream - with life imitating art - just like a scene out of a movie.  But today turned into a nightmare when I received the phone call which every parent dreads: "Your daughter has been in a car accident."

For weeks now Satine has been regaling me with various pieces of trivia about the Olympics and this morning was no exception...

She's too young to go without food, so Miss Eight has opted to try something equally as challenging for a child of the 21st century: she's going to go for 40 hours without TV or Technology!

This morning during breakfast we were discussing goal setting with Miss 7.75 - who (having been through the process at least twice during her illustrious school career) feels  that she is somewhat of an expert.  So having satisifed us with her definition of achievable, Satine's father and I decided to take her through the full acronym of SMART Goal Setting.

I began keeping a parenting diary when my first pregnancy was confirmed.  Yes, a diary - for blogs didn't exist beack then - or at least not in their current form and certainly not with today's level of popularity.

I am embarrassed to admit that despite best intentions, it has been years since I wrote regularly in Satine's diary.  I can point to a million 'reasons' as to why my daily entries lessened in frequency from daily to weekly, then fortnightly to monthly, and finally deminishing to nothing.

After seven months of trying, hoping, agonizing and disappointments, our dreams were realised on the morning of 18th July 2002 in the form of a little blue line... What followed was a rather uneventful text-book pregnancy culminating in a drug-free 'natural' delivery of the most beautiful creature in the world.
