I recently signed up for a Mystery Crochet Along where each week we're given 'clues' (instructions) for a project (in this case an afghan ~ aka blanket).  The idea is that over the course of ten weeks you learn new techniques as a part of a community.

You have no idea what the completed project will look like until the very end.  The afghan will evolve as the clues are released ~ hence the mystery part.

Whilst you must follow the instructions precisely, you are able to add your own creative flair in choosing your colour palette.  There were, of course, colour palette suggestions for those not feeling adventurous to compile their own.  I must confess, I fell into the latter category, but the main colour of my chosen palette was out of stock so I substituted for a lighter aqua and then swapped the brown for a grey.  It's always difficult to tell what the exact colour is going to be like from the image on screen so it was an anxious wait for the yarn to arrive.

Anxiety fueled by the fact that the first clue to the challenge was published last Tuesday and my yarn was nowhere to be seen.

So I waited...

...and waited...

...and waited some more...

Then today a parcel arrived filled with deliciously soft yarn in the most gorgeous colours.

What do you think?  Did I choose well?

Now I just need to somehow catch up on week's worth of crochet...
